We’re looking for a leader, ready to take our service team in Japan to the next level. As Service Director, you’ll have the opportunity to truly make a difference. Does that sound interesting? Then read on…

About Us

FOSS Japan, a wholly owned subsidiary of FOSS, has played a key role in the Asia region for over 50 years and holds a leading market position. As Service Director, you’ll be based at our Tokyo office, with regular travel expected for customer visits and business meetings.

Joining FOSS and FOSS Japan means becoming part of a fast-paced, international, and collaborative culture where we work closely together to meet our customers’ evolving needs.

An Exciting Challenge

This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing organization committed to delivering outstanding service and innovation. At FOSS Japan, we pride ourselves on our adaptability, technical excellence, and strong customer focus.

As Service Director, you’ll lead a highly capable team of service engineers, service coordinators and product applications specialists, who strive to deliver exceptional service every day. Reporting to the VP for Service, Asia Pacific, you’ll be part of the local management team alongside the Managing Director and Financial Controller. You’ll also collaborate with global colleagues at FOSS headquarters in Denmark.

Key Responsibilities

As Service Director, you will lead and develop the Japan Service business, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational excellence.

You will be responsible for leading the business to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure an excellent customer experience at every touchpoint, whether through remote support, on-site visits, or any other service engagement.

You will work closely with our Sales team to identify and support service opportunities that add value to our customers and strengthen long-term relationships – contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the service business.

You will also be accountable for managing the Service department’s operating budget. This includes effective cost control, resource planning, and ensuring that financial targets are met. Prior experience with budget ownership and commercial decision-making is essential.

We support our customers by delivering timely and effective installations, preventive maintenance, and repair services. To achieve this, you’ll need to be a hands-on leader, a strategic thinker, and a strong collaborator with both local and regional stakeholders.

You will be responsible for monitoring and delivering on key Service KPIs, ensuring service orders are completed accurately and efficiently. Most importantly, you will be an inspiring manager who supports and develops your team’s competencies and engagement.

Who Are You?

If you can say “yes” to the following, we would like to hear from you:

  • You are a people leader who lead by example and thrive on motivating teams to exceed expectations. You have at least 5 years of leadership experience, ideally within service operations.
  • You bring a structured and analytical mindset and are comfortable navigating a complex organization. You understand how to balance customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational efficiency, and you have a strong business acumen with a proven track record of driving results.
  • You have clear communication skills and can confidently engage with customers, employees, and peers across all levels in a technical environment. Your hands-on approach and technical insight allow you to lead confidently and credibly.
  • You have experience working with LEAN principles and bring a mindset of continuous improvement, efficiency, and standardization into your leadership approach.
  • You speak and write Japanese and English at a high level.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is expected. However, your values, experience, and leadership capability are what matter most.
