What you will do

You will be responsible for developing and implementing both current and future optical hardware platforms for bioanalysis — taking the technology from the lab environment to full-scale production. You will also play a key role in the system integration phase, defining flow sequences and verifying critical flow system components. The responsibility includes the technical overview of the complete system from sample intake to the final measurement result, as well as managing interfaces with other parts of the instrument.

Your tasks will span a wide range of tasks, from early-phase experimental work to help troubleshooting during the transition to production, such as:

  • Holistic approach of the complete analytical solution—from sample preparation, through signal generation, to the prediction engine.
  • Troubleshoot issues across fluidics, signal detection, data evaluation, and other error sources; design and implement efficient instrument workflows.
  • Serve as a bridge between expert teams (biology, chemistry, hardware, software) ensuring delivery of an integrated solution that is greater than the sum of its parts.

A key to success in this role as Measuring Chain Responsible is to coordinate and effectively communicate results to both project members and stakeholders. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team, including software developers, hardware engineers, scientists, data scientists and colleagues from departments beyond R&D. Strong cooperation with team members in both Hungary and Denmark will be essential to our success.

Your daily work will be based at Soft Flow research center in Pécs, Hungary.

What we offer

A job in an internationally recognized, stable, and innovative company, that is small enough for you to have a high influence on the projects, and big enough for professional development. You will have the chance to work on exciting, multidisciplinary projects integrating special hardware and software components and biotech solutions to create ground-breaking analytical measurement devices and software services for the global food industry.

Joining us offers you the opportunity to expand your expertise and tackle difficult problems. You will be not only a team member, but part of a supportive community where you will be able to openly discuss any kind of topic with your colleagues or managers over a coffee. Our company emphasizes work-life balance, offering flexible work time and the option for hybrid remote work.

YOUR CORE COMPETENCIES

You hold a MSc in engineering, physics, or a related field, and have a proven track record of working with fluidics and optical detection systems, along with experience in several of the following areas:

  • Experimental work with optical detection systems such as fluorescence detection, spectroscopy, or imaging.
  • Theoretical and practical experience with fluidic systems, including microfluidics.
  • Planning and executing experiments to validate designs and new concepts in lab setups and early prototypes.
  • Data analysis (Python or MATLAB).

As we are an international company, fluent English—both written and spoken—is also essential.

It is a great plus if you have:

  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams or environments.
  • Background in system integration or building complex instruments.
  • PhD degree.

In terms of mindset

You are a structured and self-driven individual who thrives as part of a strong team. You’re curious by nature and enjoy tackling challenging problems.
