We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in plastic part design to join our R&D team focused on the Dairy product line. About the role - help us shape the future of sustainable food production As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Dairy segment, you will play a key role in designing and developing mechanical components—often molded plastic parts—for our next-generation analytical instruments. You’ll work across the full development cycle, from early concept and prototyping to final production, ensuring robust, manufacturable, and user-centered solutions. You’ll be part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, working closely with colleagues in Business Development, Front-End Innovation, UI/UX, Supply Chain, and Production. Your work will be anchored in FOSS’ strategic roadmap and contribute directly to our mission of sustainable innovation. Your responsibilities - You take a high degree of ownership, in developing instruments used in dairy analysis
- Translate user needs and high-level requirements into mechanical solutions
- Create early prototypes and validate design concepts
- Ensure manufacturability and robustness through tolerance analysis and design principles
- Collaborate with toolmakers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to finalize production-ready designs
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design processes and product quality
What you bring Must-have qualifications - Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical product development
- Proven track record in finalizing parts for production
- Strong proficiency in 3D/2D CAD design
- Deep understanding of DfA, DfM, and DfS principles
- Experience in designing plastic parts for products with electronics/electro-mechanics
- Fluent in English and Danish
- Valid work permit in Denmark
Nice-to-have skills - Experience with FEA/CAE simulation tools.
- Knowledge of injection moulding and tooling design.
- Familiarity with material selection and qualification (metals, glass, thermoplastics, elastomers).
- Skilled in prototyping and additive manufacturing.
- Understanding of standards and regulations (ISO, CE, food/medical compliance).
