We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with solid experience within early development of advanced technology innovation. About the Role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Mechanics Team, you will play a key role in designing and developing mechanical core modules and components for our next-generation analytical instruments. Often these will be electro-mechanical or opto-mechanical solutions, thus cooperation with these functions is key. You’ll work across the full development cycle, from early concept and prototyping to final production, ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions with high performance. You’ll be part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, working closely with colleagues in Business Innovation, Technology Innovation, Supply Chain, and Production. Your work will be anchored in FOSS’ strategic roadmap and contribute directly to our mission of sustainable innovation. Your Responsibilities - You take a high degree of ownership, in developing technology and modules for future instruments
- Translate user needs and high-level requirements into mechanical solutions
- Create early prototypes and validate design concepts
- Ensure manufacturability and robustness through tolerance analysis and robust design principles
- Collaborate with toolmakers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to finalize production-ready designs
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design processes and product quality
Must-Have Qualifications - Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical product development
- Proven track record in finalizing parts for production
- Strong proficiency in 3D/2D CAD design
- Deep understanding of DfA, DfM, and DfS principles
- Fluent in English and Danish
- Valid work permit in Denmark
Nice-to-Have Skills - Experience with FEA/optomechanical simulation tools
- Experience with opto-mechanics
- Knowledge of machining and tooling
- Familiarity with material selection and qualification (metals, glass, thermoplastics, elastomers).
- Routinely uses prototyping and additive manufacturing.
- Understanding of standards and regulations (ISO, CE, food/medical compliance).
